In the Stone home, decorating for Christmas means recalling precious memories. “We start the weekend after Thanksgiving, and it usually goes on for an entire week,” Christina says of the decorating process. “I usually take off vacation so I can get my house in order for Christmas… so I can enjoy the entire month of December with my house all decorated.”

Entering the house during the month of December means stepping into a living room filled with rich reds that add depth to the décor’s neutral foundation. The design finds its character in varied textures, from the tile-surround fireplace to the industrial-style wooden coffee table. In a row on the mantel, cheerful nutcracker figures stand at attention.

“I danced when I was young, and every year, we go to The Nutcracker,” Christina says. “And every year, I’ve gotten a nutcracker at The Nutcracker.” The collection is special to Christina, as it brings back memories of attending the ballet as a child with her mother. “I don’t think I’ve missed a year of seeing the ballet, honestly.”
