Embrace the splendor of the season this Thanksgiving with a cottage-style alfresco tablescape. This time of year there’s no better choice than to head outdoors and immerse yourself in a warm reflection of autumn color by the shore.

Set the scene this season with a table stacked with pumpkins, a foraged arrangement, layers of linens, and warm candlelight. Statement candlesticks create a rich base for these sage-colored candles that will cast a warm, sparkling glow when lit, allowing this dreamy autumnal dinner to be enjoyed well past the golden hour.

When setting an autumn table, don’t be afraid to break from the obvious warm palette of golden orange and red. Cool things down by pairing soft greens, blues, and layers of creamy brown neutrals that allow deep crimson and rust-colored accents to pop.

Remember fruits and vegetables aren’t just for eating. One of our favorite autumn style tips is to use seasonal vegetation (whether foraged or store-bought, real or faux) in your arrangements as an added layer of interest. Pears, persimmons, pomegranates, berries, and—of course—pumpkins and gourds can make a stylish statement! Scatter a few fallen leaves across the table to further enhance the brilliant floral centerpiece.

When it comes to alfresco dining, a full meal isn’t always necessary. When paired with a refreshing beverage and good company, a few wooden boards piled with your choice of dried fruits and nuts or meats and cheeses can be just as enjoyable as a plated meal.
