TCJ: You’ve mentioned many times on your blog that your home interiors are rather cozy, so you’re forced to utilize every nook and cranny. What are some practical but beautiful ways to make a small space livable?
AA: We sure do, haha! Using closets creatively has been helpful for us here. For example, using that space without doors and making them nooks for dressers or toy/book storage. Our front hall has a closet we use as a faux mudroom. Pretty storage baskets or furniture that doubles with storage has been useful, too.
TCJ: Your style includes a lot of neutrals, so we’ve seen that you mix things up and add character by introducing textures. What are some of your top tips for mixing and matching textures without being overwhelming?
AA: I like to mix textures with neutrals. So many of my things may be in the same color family, but they have unique texture such as blankets and pillows (these are another great way to achieve the character). Baskets and woven pieces are a wonderful way to mix it in as well. And plants always bring such a pretty amount of texture with their varying details.
