Pretty and practical can coexist—such is the mantra of any cottage homeowner, and Sonja and Ronnie Fleming are no exception. When building their craftsman-style home, they paid attention to every little detail, right down to the pantry. While Ronnie took over the handiwork, Sonja fulfilled her heart’s desire and styled every nook and cranny.

When it came to the pantry, Sonja let her vintage-inspired imagination run wild. An antique-style bread tin is the centerpiece and sets the palette for the rest of the space. Sonja found glass canisters at a local superstore and painted the tops to match the rest of the home’s jadeite palette. A tea cup acts as a clever sugar scoop, and wicker baskets are the perfect spots to hide snacks that might not be as appealing to the eye.

In addition to storage, Sonja also uses the pantry to showcase some of her favorite china, Spode Woodland. Vintage cake plates adorn the top shelf with a dainty touch. In classic cottage style, Sonja also hung vintage rolling pins vertically along the beaded board wall, as well as antique-style aprons. To give the new home a lived-in feel, Sonja and Ronnie decided to add curved eaves on the edges of the shelves. Tucked away in the corner is a small shelf ideal for stacking groceries or as the perfect spot for fresh clippings from the garden.
