Since 2000, Pantone’s Color of the Year has been a source of inspiration for design enthusiasts everywhere. This year’s choice, Ultra Violet, has people excited for a year filled with regal hues and vibrant design choices.

According to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, the shade “communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking.” She notes that the choice is a reflection of the world today, adding that the institute “wanted to pick something that brings hope and an uplifting message.”

Considered a symbol of royalty throughout much of history, purple is already pervading homes nationwide and beyond. While Ultra Violet is a bolder shade of the versatile color, these eight spaces prove that, with a little creativity, it can be the perfect addition to any cottage-style home.
