Finding Her Niche at Bloomsbury Farm

Finding Her Niche at Bloomsbury Farm
Lauren and her team raise vegetables from seed in three hoop greenhouses. Growing transplants gives her access to the widest selection of new and heritage varieties.

Lauren’s entrepreneurial creativity comes into play in her relationships with restaurant owners—she meets with them in January to talk about what they want to put on their tables in July—and in her rental program. The farm grounds are available for dinners, weddings, and other special events, and she even rents vintage furniture and accessories for the occasion. In October, Outstanding in the Field, a California-based organization, will visit Bloomsbury Farm for the second time. The group works with local chefs to stage a spectacular dinner on the farm for hundreds of guests, seating them at tables winding through the fields. This unique culinary adventure seeks to connect people to the farmers who grow their food.
