Her experiments with plants and plant combinations were often inspired by gardens she saw on buying trips to England for her shop Henhouse Antiques, that she co-owns with Judy Hill. “I love their sense of creativity,” she says of British gardeners. Through a process of trial and error, she has learned what will thrive in her home’s Alabama climate and has developed a palette of perennials that keep the garden in bloom from spring through fall.
