With layered rugs and warm, neutral furnishings, the living room is an inviting space the whole family can enjoy. Denise’s favorite thing about the room is the chapel painting that hangs above the fireplace. “I saw this picture in downtown Franklin and instantly fell in love with the colors,” she says. “It felt like a sanctuary to me, a place of rest.”

In a male-dominated household, Denise needed a space of her own. “I told my husband, ‘I need a room!’” she recalls with a laugh, noting most of the other rooms are more masculine in color and furnishings. With the help of Brad she was able to create a gorgeous sitting room that offers her “a place for pretty.” The room also doubles as her office, but you won’t find a desk in there. “When I have to sit and write, I’d rather curl up on a couch than sit at a desk,” Denise says, adding that the sitting room became her own little retreat within her house. “I just feel like that room is a piece of me; It’s just warmth to my soul.”
