The showpiece in the kitchen is unquestionably the copper backsplash, for which Margaret called on artist Richard Miree. “When I saw his backsplashes I knew I had to have him do one for me. It may be my favorite thing in my house!” she exclaims. “He is so talented, and all his work is unique.”
The sculptor shared how he used a series of photographs from her beautiful estate to create a composition landscape in the copper. Big flowers and architectural elements occupy the foreground and lead the eye into barns and pastures to end at the skyline against mountains and clouds. “He even included my horses’ heads sticking out of their windows,” Margaret declares.
