Off the living room is Katie’s studio that she describes as a little sanctuary with tons of windows providing plenty of natural light for her painting. It’s here where she puts all her favorite tchotchkes. Going to antiques stores, as well as estate and garage sales, is a favorite pastime for Katie. She enjoys searching for treasures with a story, such as the embroidered pieces hanging in her daughter’s room. Each piece represents a city, but it wasn’t the stitches that prompted the purchase. On the back of one piece, the needle worker recorded that it took four years to complete the set of four. That both intrigued and impressed Katie enough to purchase the set.
The exterior improvements on the house were also accomplished by the labors of Scott and Katie. They painted the front porch and fence. The red brick received a coat of cream paint and flagstone was laid in the yard. With this hardworking couple’s love of DIY projects, it is pretty certain more projects are yet to come.
