Visually Connected Canadian Cottage

A Canadian cottage comes together with the help of interior designer Holly Mathis.

When this homeowner sold her veterinary practice and moved to Okotoks, Alberta, not only did she have more time to spend with her three young daughters, but she also had the daunting task of figuring out which elements of her existing décor would work in their new home and which items she’d need to reevaluate. “My former home [had] a more traditional layout with separated spaces,” Andrea Flebbe says. “I loved that layout, but our current home is quite the opposite.”

The family’s cozy cottage, nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, make for an idyllic winter abode. Andrea decorates accordingly for the season, making it extra cozy and comfortable for the long winter months. “One may think we remain indoors over the winter, but we most certainly take advantage of outdoor winter activities such as skating and sledding,” she says.
