And like her story, her artistic style is uniquely her own. “I can’t ever think of an exact way to describe it,” Lauren says with a laugh. But she says her works are “very loose and a bit impressionistic.” Using a palette knife she layers a wooden panel made by her husband with texture before filling it in with acrylic paints allowing the different colors to show through. From there, she never has a specific plan but says the painting simply evolves.
“I love color, and I love to see how a color interacts with another color and the different feeling it creates,” Lauren says. And it’s that nostalgic feeling of home and beauty and perhaps a hidden story that makes Lauren’s work appeal to so many.
