Margaret credits her mother for most of the furniture in the eating area of the kitchen. She is a local antiques dealer, and Margaret says, “Often I get an excited call saying she has ‘found something I must have for my house!’ She has a great eye and is always right, so I am very fortunate to have some fabulous pieces throughout my house.”
The kitchen cabinets, floors, and doors are made of various types of wood but finished with the same stain. Since each wood accepts the stain just a bit differently, the woods complement each other without being exactly alike.
It is no wonder Margaret says the kitchen is her favorite room in the house. You can see almost the entire farm from all the windows. “In the morning the horses nicker to me to come feed as they see me stumble into the kitchen to feed the dogs and grab some coffee,” Margaret says. “And in the evening while I am cooking I can see their relaxed beautiful heads hanging out their stall windows. My kitchen is a happy place.”
