She explains that because Boothbay Harbor is a seasonal place, it makes the times when people are in town, a time for celebration. “It’s big feasts and family get-togethers,” she says, which largely influence the actual subject of her works and not just the style. Her plates and tableware pieces cater to the idea of festive gathering in a way that feels both precious yet relaxed. “That’s what Maine is all about in the summertime,” Alison says. “It’s about indulging in the beauty of the coast, hanging out outside, eating great food, and spending time with great friends and family.” And her work is the perfect complement to that proper summer experience.
